State: Third Beach & Peabody's Beach Can Re-Open For Swimming
The state health department is recommending Third Beach and Peabody's Beach be re-opened for swimming.

MIDDLETOWN, RI — It only took one day to resolve problems at the Middletown beaches. The state Department of Health on Wednesday recommended closing Third Beach and Peabody’s Beach for swimming because of high bacteria counts. On Thursday, the state recommended re-opening both beaches.
The recommendation could change at any time, the state did note. Officials will continue to monitor the water quality and will make recommendations. When a beach closure is recommended, water quality analysis is conducted by RIDOH's laboratory or a state-certified laboratory. The status of a beach may change daily. The most up-to-date beach information is available through a recorded message on RIDOH's beaches telephone line (401-222-2751).
