Traffic Alert: Bike To The Beach For Autism On Saturday

MIDDLETOWN, RI—A Boston to Newport bicycle fundraiser is set for Saturday, Sept. 2. It will go through Middletown, police said, starting at approximately 12:15 p.m. Motorists are asked to avoid the area if possible between noon and 3 p.m. Otherwise, they are asked to proceed with caution.

Route: Cyclists will travel south on Indian Avenue, coming from Old Mill Lane in Portsmouth. They will continue onto Hanging Rock Road, turn right at the end of Hanging Rock Road and travel pass the beach. Cyclists will continue onto Purgatory Road. They will then turn left onto RI-138A and travel into Newport, Rhode Island.

Also, Bike to the Beach will have rest stops every 10 to 15 miles where riders are given water and food. Along the route, Bike to the Beach has 5 to10 chase vehicles with food, water and other needed supplies to assist cyclists whenever necessary.
