NATIONAL LIBRARY WEEK is April 9-15. Special programming, crafts, book raffles in the Children’s Room, all day, every day.

Ed Goldberg and the Odessa Klezmer Band, a Grammy-Award winning group, celebrates the musical heritage of Eastern Europe, Ladino and the Middle East. Saturday, April 15th @ 2:00 pm.

FOR THE LOVE OF MOVIES, a Film Discussion Group, will view and discuss Anna Karenina starring Greta Gardo and Frederic March on Friday, April 14th. Film at noon, discussion @ 2:00 pm.

NEIGHBORS HELPING NEIGHBORS, a peer-led volunteer local job search support and networking group, meets on Monday, April 10th @ 7:00 pm.

AARP Income Tax Assistance meets Mondays through Wednesdays until April 18th. Register in person at the Reference Desk each Saturday at 9:00 am for slots available for the following week. First come, first served. Slots go quickly.

S.T.A.R. Party Astronomy Event: S.T.A.R. Astronomy Group will be on hand in the back parking lot with professional telescopes for excellent sky viewing. Snapology Junior Scientists - All About Animals: Children will learn various concepts of animal life cycles, animal characteristics and traits while building with K’NEX toys and other interactive learning tools. Books will be read and science stories shared, all while creating the creatures kids love! For ages 4+. Monday, April 10th @ 10:30 am.

Snapology Scientist: Encourage a child to love science and nature by becoming a scientist. Students will engage in building concepts related to everyday life from astronomy, earth science, biology, chemistry, and physics using LEGO® bricks and other interactive learning tools. Create and build a constellation, replicate an animal’s lifecycle, and construct a tower to withstand a natural disaster. Snapology makes science interesting and fun! Monday, April 10th @ 11:30 am.

Gymboree Play and Learn: Explore the senses and support visual and auditory development with tummy time, activity, baby massage, parachute and bubble time, first songs and more. This baby class includes parent discussion time to help learn about a child’s development. Parents will need to bring a blanket for their babies to participate on. For ages up to 6 months and non-crawling. Tuesday, April 11th @ 9:30 am.

Kids Playgroup: A playgroup that encourages children to explore hands-on activities and develop social skills. Grown-ups can chat and connect with other parents/caregivers while supervising their children’s play. A Drop-In program for all ages. Tuesday, April 11th @ 10:30 am.

Act It Out – One was Johnny: Each child will have a role to play in acting out the story. For ages 4+. Tuesday, April 11th @ 4:00 pm.

Read to a Dog is a great way to improve the literacy skills of children by enabling them to read to a non-judgmental listener in furry friend. For independent readers only. Teen reading buddies for younger siblings as well as for the K-5 set to practice with prior to their “dog time”. For grades K-5. Tuesday, April 11th @ 7:00 pm.

Engineering Block Party: We will have our LEGOs out for engineering challenges just for fun. For ages 7+. Wednesday, April 11th @ 2:45 pm.

Hop on Over for Reading Bunnies: Independent readers can hop on over to practice their reading skills with one of our 4-H bunnies. It's a great way to encourage children to read by providing a non-judgmental listener in our fluffy friends. There will be teen reading buddies for younger siblings as well as for the K-5 set to practice with prior to their “bunny time”. For independent readers grades K-5.Wednesday, April 12th @4:00 pm.

Drop-In LEGO Building Session: We will have our LEGOs out for free-play in our quiet reading area. Parents bringing younger siblings need to be vigilant with their little ones to prevent choking. Wednesday, April 12th @ 6:30 pm.

Bilbo’s Journey - A Hobbit Story: Traveling Lantern Theatre Company will perform a grand story of peril, wonder and daring! Everyone loves the cherished tale of a home loving little Hobbit who finds himself on an adventure he could never have imagined! On his perilous trip he meets elves, trolls, a wizard, a dragon…and ssssomething ssstrange called a Gollum. Travel with this brave little Hobbit through dangerous and wondrous terrain, and then, happily, back home again. For grades K-5. Thursday, April 13th @ 6:30 pm.

Toddler Time for Walkers: Toddlers learn by playing, moving, touching, making noise, looking at books, and being loved. Each toddler should bring a favorite grown-up to share in the fun and learning. For toddlers up to 30 months. Friday, April 14th @ 10:00 am.
