Whiz Kids: Good Luck to Middletown's RI Sports Awards Nominees!
The ceremony is tonight at the Rhode Island Convention Center.

Some of most talented athletes are up for awards tonight at the annual Cox RI Sports Awards presented by the National Guard.
Softball pitcher Grace Eng is Middletown's lone spring sports nominee. Football player , swimmer and basketball player are also nominated from the fall and winter programs.
Providence Mayor Angel Taveras, Providence College Basketball Coach Ed Cooley, recognized leader in the sports community Steve McDonald, University of Virginia lacrosse standout Colin Briggs, and Pawtucket Red Sox President Mike Tamburro will join the more than 200 top scholar-athletes at the ceremony tonight at the Rhode Island Convention Center. Cooley is the featured speaker.

The ceremony will honor the Ocean State's best high school and college scholar-athletes from each sport for every season, as well as the Team of the Year and Coach of the Year. State Championship teams from each season will also be honored. The 2011 Cox RI Sports Awards Male and Female Scholar-Athletes of the Year will be revealed.
