Woman Charged After Allegedly Wielding Kitchen Knife & Cutting Son

An argument with her son and his girlfriend led to the Jan. 3 arrest of Wilne Margarita Rodriguez, 48, of Middletown

MIDDLETOWN, RI—A 48-year-old Middletown woman was charged with domestic felony assault (with a knife) following an argument with her son and his girlfriend.

According to the police report, the mother said the son and girlfriend are not allowed at her home, but they were there on Jan. 4. An argument started after the girl friend gave the mother "a dirty look."

Wilne Margarita Rodriguez allegedly was yelling at the girl friend through a closed bedroom door when her son tried to maneuver her back into her own bedroom. Meanwhile, the girl ran down the stairs and started her car. He followed her down, but his mother grabbed a kitchen knife. He ran out the back door and held it shut to keep his mother inside, but she allegedly kept trying to pull the door open and slashed at him through the opening.

He and the girl friend escaped in a silver Toyota. Police stopped the car and interviewed them as suspects in a domestic. They were called by another family member at the house.

Both told police they were the victims. Police noticed a small cut on the man's finger.

He was not sure if his mother had cut his finger with the kitchen knife, he told police and refused medical treatment.
