2 Newport Women Charged With Distributing, Receiving Child Porn
Samantha York, 31, and Karissa C. Cave, 23, are accused of distributing and receiving a sexually explicit video of a minor.
NEWPORT, RI — Two Newport women are facing charges related to child pornography. Samantha York, 31, and Karissa C. Cave, 23, were indicted on Wednesday.
According to the office of Rhode Island United States Attorney Aaron L. Weisman, Woonsocket police found a sexually explicit video of a child on a cell phone in December 2016. York is accused of creating and sharing the video. The video is believed to have been shared with Cave by someone other than York.
York was indicted on two counts of sexual exploitation of a minor and one count of distribution of child pornography. If convicted, she would face a statutory penalty of 15 to 30 years in prison and five years to life supervised released for the sexual exploitation charges and five to 20 years in prison and five years to life supervised release for the distribution charge.

Cave, meanwhile, was indicted on on charge of receipt of child pornography. If convicted, she would face a required sentence of five to 20 years in prison and five years to life supervised release.
