2020 Newport Flower Show Postponed Due To Coronavirus

The Flower Show, scheduled for June 18 to 20, will now be held in June 2021 at Rosecliff Mansion.

NEWPORT, RI — The 25th Newport Flower Show, scheduled for June has been pushed off until next year, the Preservation Society announced Wednesday. The rescheduled show will have the same theme, "Voices in the Garden."

"A lot of work has already been done for this year’s show and we thank each member of our Flower Show Committee, chaired by Pat Fernandez," the society said in a statement. "Many garden clubs, floral and horticulture exhibitors, judges, marketplace vendors and hundreds of volunteers are part of the Flower Show and we look forward to continuing to work with you to make our 2021 show the best 25th anniversary celebration ever."

The show, was originally scheduled for June 18 to 20. It will now be held from June 19 to 21, 2021. The same competitive classes will apply.

The annual show, held at the historic Rosecliff Mansion, has become a summer standby in Newport, featuring some of the finest floral displays in the state. More information is available on the event's website.

Trudy Coxe, the CEO of the Preservation Society, encouraged Rhode Islanders to plant their own gardens this summer in place of the Flower Show.

"Are you going to miss this summer’s show as much as I will?" Coxe said in a message to members. "During this time at home, let’s all plant and nurture an abundant garden of vegetables and flowers. A prize to the most stunning dahlia or most perfect tomato!"
