3 Aquidneck Island Beaches Closed Due To High Bacteria
Third Beach and Peabody's Beach in Middletown and Easton's Beach in Newport are closed to swimming.
NEWPORT, RI — Three Aquidneck Island beaches are closed to swimming due to high bacteria levels. Third and Peabody's beaches in Middletown and Easton's beach in Newport were closed by the Rhode Island Department of Health Thursday evening.
The department will test the bacteria at all three beaches until they return to safe levels. For the latest closure information is available by calling RIDOH's prerecorded beach line at 401-222-2571.
