32,000 Rhode Islanders Without Power Amid High Winds, Rain
High winds and driving rain knocked out power around the state.

More than 32,000 Rhode Islanders were left in the dark Monday afternoon as the state was buffeted by powerful wind gusts and driving rain. The National Weather Service issued a high wind advisory for the entire state until 1 a.m. Tuesday.
As of 4:15 p.m., more than 32,000 National Grid customers were without power, most of whom were in Providence County. All customers were expected to get their power restored by 11 p.m. Monday.

Due to the high winds, the Rhode Island Turnpike and Bridge Authority restricted vehicle access on the Jamestown and Newport Pell bridges. This means empty panel-type trucks, tractor-trailers, certain empty vans, house trailers, motor homes, motorcycles, mopeds and high-profile vehicles are prohibited from crossing the bridge due to the dangerous conditions.
