NEWPORT, RI — It's almost Fourth of July, and Patch is your local resource for fireworks and celebrations — we have everything except a grill for your backyard barbecue.

Newport's Fourth of July Fireworks display will actually be two days before the holiday on July 2. The show will begin just after dark, around 9:15 p.m. from the Newport Harbor at Wellington Avenue and Washington Street. For the best view, find any spot along the harbor and face west. There is no rain date.

There's plenty to do in the City By The Sea on Independence Day itself, including the "Fourth of July Extranvangza" to kick off the Newport Music Festival.
