Andre Agassi and Peachy Kellmeyer Inducted to International Tennis Hall of Fame

Andre Agassi and Peachy Kellmeyer were presented the highest honor in tennis this weekend and were inducted to the International Tennis Hall of Fame.

Andre Agassi, a man and athlete considered by many as one of the best tennis players of all time, was moved to tears as he said that he was “thrilled, humbled and terrified” to stand in front of thousands of his fans to accept his induction to theon Saturday afternoon.

Agassi, 41, held the number one singles ranking for 101 weeks, won of eight grand slam tournament titles and an Olympic gold medal and has earned more than $30
million in prize money, fourth only to Roger Federer, Pete Sampras and Rafael Nadal.

“I believe that the Hall of Fame really connects our past, our present and our futurem,” Agassi said before the ceremony. “It is what this establishment does so well.”

Agassi has demonstrated his own commitment to future generations when, in 1994, he founded the Andre Agassi Foundation for Education, which provides charitable donations and scholarships. Since its inception, the foundation has raised approximately $150 million for the public education system.

Agassi was the sole inductee in the Recent Player category.

In the Contributor Category, Fern Lee “Peachy” Kellmeyer, an industry executive, was also inducted during Saturday’s ceremony.  During her career with the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA), Kellmeyer has been at the center of all major policy decisions. Kellmeyer currently serves as WTA Operations Executive Consultant.

“Andre Agassi and Peachy Kellmeyer have achieved extraordinary success in their tennis careers, while improving the lives of so many,” Christopher Clouser, Chairman of the International Tennis Hall of Fame & Museum, said. 

Established in 1954, The International Tennis Hall of Fame & Museum was recognized as the sport's official Hall of Fame in 1986 by the International Tennis Federation as the governing body of tennis.
