ALN Announces Candidate Forums

The Alliance for a Livable Newport is sponsoring a series of public forums for City Council and School Committee candidates to explain why they deserve your vote.

The three forums begin at 6 p.m. at the Newport Public Library.

The dates are:

Sept. 23: Second and Third Ward City Council candidates. (First Ward seat is uncontested).

Oct. 1: At-large candidates.

Oct. 15: School Committee candidates.

ALN is preparing questions to ask the candidates at the forums. There will also be written questionnaires prepared for candidates with responses viewable on ALN’s Web site, www.newportalliance.org.

ALN is also hoping the public suggests some good questions, too. If you think you have a good question or a topic that the candidates should tackle, send it along to info@newportalliance.org. Questions need to be in by Sept. 10 to be considered.
