Applications Open For Newport's Dinghy, Kayak Lottery

NEWPORT, RI — Now's the time to submit kayak and dinghy applications in Newport. The random drawing for spaces will be held on March 4.

The lottery will be held at the Harbormaster's Office at 39 America's Cup Boulevard at 9 a.m. It is open to the public and all are welcome to attend.

To be eligible for the lottery, applicants must be at least 18 years old and submit either a copy of their Newport voter registration card or a driver's license with a Newport address with their application, postmarked by Feb. 29.

Once all available spaces are full, all other applicants will be placed on a waiting list, with the order determined by the lottery drawing. All winners will be notified by email within one week after the drawing, and must pay for and pick up their stick by March 31. Unclaimed stickers will be given to people on the waiting list until all have been distributed. Only those who apply for the spaces during the open period will be eligible for the waiting list.
