BankNewport Will Consolidate Newport Branches

BankNewport President and CEO Sandra J. Pattie today announced that the 580 Thames Street, Newport will close in order to consolidate operations at the located at 10 Washington Square in Newport. 

“Our Wellington location on a one-way street with limited parking and only one drive-thru lane limited our ability to provide additional customer amenities,” said Pattie, “and our customer growth at that branch reflects those limitations.  By moving our Wellington team to the larger Washington Square branch, we will be able to provide all Newport customers with familiar faces, easy accessibility to our offices, better drive-thru service, ample (free) parking, safe deposit boxes and Saturday banking hours.”  

The last day of operations at Wellington Square is scheduled for August 25, 2012.

The four employees of the Wellington office will be re-assigned to Washington Square and other branches.  The bank will also add Saturday banking hours in Washington Square to accommodate the combined customer base beginning on June 2, 2012.
