Black Ice A Concern In Rhode Island As Temperatures Fall
Slightly melted snow and fog is expected to freeze overnight, which could cause a slippery morning commute.

Monday was chilly and damp in Rhode Island, with temperatures inching a few degrees above freezing. With temperatures dropping after the sun set, black ice is expected to form on sidewalks, driveways and streets around the state, leading to the potential for a slippery morning commute.
According to the National Weather Service, black ice will likely form anywhere that was wet during the day Monday, due to some snow melting. Fog might freeze, too, "meaning any surface could become glazed over with ice."
Black ice is notoriously difficult to see on roads, and often appears to be a wet spot. The NWS warned drivers to be especially cautious on bridges, overpasses and ramps. When driving on potentially icy roads, slow down and avoid sudden braking as much as possible.
