Police Investigating Death Of Man Washed Ashore Near Beavertail State Park

Beavertail State Park visitors found the body Monday afternoon.

JAMESTOWN, RI—State police said Wednesday they have identified the body washed ashore at Beavertail. He is Patrick Carey of Warwick. Police are investigating his death after his body washed ashore at Beavertail State Park around 12:50 p.m. today. Park visitors found the body and reported the discovery to the state Department of Environmental Management. The state police, Jamestown police and fire and the state medical examiner's office all responded.

As for the cause of death, that's still unknown.

"The circumstances surrounding the man’s death are under investigation at this time," state police said.

The Medical Examiner’s Office will conduct an autopsy to determine the cause and manner of death, police said.
