Body Pulled From Water Near Newport: Report

The male victim's body was found near Price Neck just after 9 a.m., according to a report.

NEWPORT, RI — The U.S. Coast Guard pulled a body from the water near Newport on Wednesday, according to a report. The body was found near Price Neck.

Authorities discovered the male victim's body just after 9 a.m., WJAR reported, citing a spokesperson from U.S. Coast Guard Station Castle Hill.

According to a report from the Newport Daily News, Newport firefighters received a call about a partially submerged kayak in the water. Authorities proceeded to search the area using drones and with assistance from the Coast Guard, Jamestown and North Kingstown.

The Coast Guard has not identified the victim pending notification of family.

The Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management is investigating the person's death.
