Boots & Bling, The 15th Annual Seaside Gala
Fundraiser Held to Benefit East Bay Community Action Program

“Boots & Bling” was the theme of East Bay Community Action Program’s (EBCAP) 15th Annual Seaside Gala held on June 7th at Castle Hill Inn in Newport. EBCAP provides Primary, Behavioral and Dental Health Services along with a wide range of human services to over 30,000 residents of Rhode Island’s east bay including East Providence, Barrington, Warren, Bristol, Little Compton, Tiverton, Portsmouth, Middletown, Newport and Jamestown.
Former Senate President, M. Teresa Paiva Weed, now President of the Hospital Association of Rhode Island, served as the Honorary Chair for the event, and Neighborhood Health Plan of RI was the Leading Sponsor.
Other event sponsors included: Castle Hill Inn, Starkweather & Shepley Insurance Brokerage, Inc., BankNewport, Chace Ruttenberg & Freedman, LLP Attorneys at Law, B & M Catering, Eastern Insurance, United Healthcare Community Plan, AAFCPAs, The Schuster Group, Tufts Health Plan, and WB Mason.

Receiving 2018 Vision Awards for helping EBCAP in an outstanding way were: Worldways Social Marketing, Susan Dickstein, Ph.D., Mimi Bartlett, Kathryn Rok and the students and Volunteers of the Pell School Walking School Bus, and Emily Spence of the Bristol Health Equity Zone.
The Town of Warren, Rhode Island, was recognized with EBCAP’s 2018 Public Service Award for serving as a vital partner in EBCAP’s ability to provide important services to Warren residents.

The paddle raise resulted in more than $9,000 in donations for EBCAP’s Backpack Feeding Program, which provides children from the Newport area with food to bring home on the weekends.
Entertainment was provided by the Honky Tonk Knights as they greeted the event’s 200 guests with country sounds. Colorful arrangements were provided by Water’s Edge Flowers.
For the past fifteen years the annual Seaside Galas have been EBCAP’s primary fundraising event. EBCAP is a private, non-profit 501 (c) (3) corporation.
