Bowen's Wharf Launches new Web Site to Highlight What's New this Summer

The popular shopping destination in downtown Newport hired 6 Square Design & Communications to build the new site, which includes news, a dock cam, the history of the wharf and all sorts of information about the shops located there.

It's hard to imagine Newport without Bowen's Wharf. 

And now, it's impossible to imagine Bowen's Wharf with an old Web site.

The popular shopping destination in downtown Newport hired 6 Square Design & Communications to build the new site, which includes news, a dock cam, the history of the wharf and all sorts of information about the shops located there.

The year-round destination also offers a full-service marina and features sunset sails, harbor cruises, parasailing, and ferry transportation leaving right from the docks of Bowen’s Wharf.

New on Bowen’s Wharf this summer:

Restaurants & Eateries

22 Bowen’s Wine Bar & Grille, 22 Bowen’s Wharf: While 22 Bowen’s is already considered to have some of the best seats in town the addition of the restaurant’s second floor wraparound deck offers panoramic views of Newport Harbor. Located on the street level, the new patio terrace is in the heart of bustling Bowen’s Wharf. 22 Bowen’s is a world-class steakhouse with an award-winning wine list.

Newport Fruit & Smoothie Co., 30 Bowen’s Wharf: Already known for its fresh fruit smoothies that are vegan and dairy-free, with no added sugars, Newport Fruit & Smoothie Co. has added a crêperie to its offerings for the upcoming season. Open Mid-May through Mid-October, the crepes offer a tempting evening treat.

The Wharf Pub, 37 Bowen’s Wharf: New outdoor dining has been added to The Wharf Pub, in addition to a new bar. With a fresh take on classic pub food, The Wharf Pub emphasizes local ingredients and bold flavors. Draft beers are from New England-based beer companies and they pride themselves on an eclectic and unique wine list – all at a local price point.

Egg & Dart, 57 America’s Cup Avenue: New to Bowen’s Wharf this summer, painter Chris Wyllie and designer Kristen Coates are back from New York City and Los Angeles. Their collaboration brings an eclectic collection of art and home decor. The flagship store is filled with a carefully curated selection of local art, handmade objects, fine linens, table decor, gifts, books and seasonal greenery arrangements.

Soap & Water, 16 Bowen’s Wharf: Featuring fine bath and body products for men and women, including Molton Brown, as well as luxury home fragrances, Soap & Water is new to Bowen’s Wharf this summer. Find the perfect gift to indulge yourself or someone special. Soap & Water also specializes in provisioning yachts and preparing extraordinary gift baskets for special events.

The Narragansett, 3 Bowen’s Wharf: Renovated for the 2014 season, The Narragansett offers a wide selection of sportswear for men and women featuring internationally-known, quality labels such as Ralph Lauren and Weekend Max Mara. The Narragansett offers unique outerwear, sport jackets, chinos and shorts, cotton and cashmere sweaters, casual linen or traditional dress shirts, swimwear and accessories.

Thomas Rudd, 36 Bowen’s Wharf: Ties, bow ties, and assorted accessories that are locally-made can be found at Thomas Rudd, a new shop on Bowen’s Wharf geared towards the American gentleman. You can also find cufflinks, suspenders, belts, and pocket squares. 

Galleries

Sheldon Fine Art, 59 America’s Cup Avenue: An established gallery for over twenty years, Sheldon Fine Art has an expanded showroom for the 2014 season and features numerous original works ranging from oils, to watercolors, to photography, to sculpture. The gallery’s collection includes local, national, and world-renowned artists. Sheldon is celebrating its 31st year in business and also offers in-home and on-yacht consultations. 

Water Tours
Gansett Cruises, 2 Bowen’s Landing: Get involved with two new unique experiences offered on Gansett’s sister ship! One is a half-day charter fishing trip with everything provided. The second is an educational lobster tour – get those gloves and aprons on! Passengers will learn about fishing for lobster, and will haul and bait traps. Following the 90-minute tour, passengers will have the option to purchase lobsters from the boat. Tickets are available for purchase at the Bowen’s Wharf Welcome Center.
