Bridge Frustration Leads To One Summons
Police handed a Portsmouth man a summons after he tried to drive around traffic backed up on Admiral Kalfbus, due to bridge construction.

NEWPORT, RI — Stephan Najmy, 63, of Portsmouth, was given a traffic summons on Wednesday at 3:45 p.m. after police allege he tried to circumvent the traffic backup coming from the Newport Pell Bridge. An officer directing traffic on the ramp by Admiral Kalfbus Boulevard saw Najmy's maneuver, said he tried to go around the other cars, and deemed it reckless. At the car stop, police requested his license, but Najmy's license wasn't valid, police allege. He was cited for driving after his license was denied, revoked or suspended.
