Bridge Jam: Traffic Backed Up On Way To Newport Bridge
Construction crews went back to work on the Newport Pell Bridge, and traffic at rush hour was backed up on every route to the ramp.
NEWPORT, RI — The construction job on the Newport Pell bridge resumed on Thursday. Traffic was snarled at rush hour, as drivers tried to find a way through the congestion. Intersections were blocked by motorists determined to get ahead. The back-up even spilled over to the back roads. Van Zandt looked like a parking lot from Farewell almost all the way to Malbone Road. West Main was backed up to Ma's.
