Lecture: The Irish in the Revolutionary War

In partnership with the Museum of Newport Irish History, the Fort Adams Trust will present a lecture on the Irish role in the American fight for independence at historic Fort Adams on Sunday, August 16.

From Revolution to Ramparts: Irish and Irish-American Influence on the American Revolution and Fort Adams, featuring guest speaker Christian McBurney, will explore the often-overlooked role of Irish individuals in the American Revolution.

Historian and author of ten books—six focused on the American Revolution—Christian McBurney is also publisher and editor-in-chief of Small State, Big History, an online publication dedicated to Rhode Island’s rich history.

This free public event is made possible through a generous grant from the Rhode Island Semiquincentennial Commission (RI250).

Doors open at 4:00 p.m. for a cash-bar reception, followed by the lecture and Q&A at 5:00 p.m. The event will be held under a tent, rain or shine, with ample free parking available.
