Car Sideswiped on Spring Street: Police Say Pedestrian with Man Bun At Fault
Police charged Adrian D. Thompson, 31, of Newport with vandalism and simple assault and battery in connection with an incident Sunday night.

NEWPORT, RI — Adrian D. Thompson, 31, of Newport, was charged with two misdemeanors Sunday after a woman reported a man vandalized her black BMW.
A cruiser responded to Spring Street and Narragansett Avenue at 9:09 p.m. after the victim reported a man jumping up and down in the road had kicked her passenger side door. Then he ran south down Spring Street. According to her description, he was tall and wearing a man bun and green hoodie.
Officers learned she had been driving on Narragansett Avenue when he kicked her car. She saw him and slowed down to pass him, which was when he hit the side door.

Her boyfriend was the passenger in the car. He told police he jumped out of the vehicle and confronted the man. He was asking him why he kicked the car when the man grabbed him, threw him to the ground and ran away. The boyfriend tried to chase him but lost sight of him.
The boyfriend was later able to identify the suspect, whom police had picked up. Thompson was arrested at 9:35 p.m. He was charged with vandalism, malicious injury to property and simple assault and battery.
