Celebrate The End Of Summer At The Naval War College
The "Salute to Summer" is open to the public and will feature fireworks and live music.
NEWPORT, RI — The U.S. Naval War College is opening its doors to the public this weekend to celebrate the end of summer in style. On Saturday night, the "Salute To Summer" concert and fireworks will send off August in style.
The event is free and open to the public. Gates will open at 2 p.m. for those with base access IDs and at 3:30 p.m. for the general public. Changes in Latitude, a Jimmy Buffet tribute band, will play starting at 5 p.m., followed by the Navy Band Northeast's rock band, Rhode Island Sound at 7 p.m.
Just after 9 p.m., the main event will begin as fireworks light up the darkened Newport skies.

Food trucks from around the state will be on hand, selling a wide variety of eats and treats. Guests are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and blankets for picnic dinners and firework viewing.

- 2:00 p.m. - Dewey Field gates, kid’s area and concessions open to authorized ID holders
- 2:30 p.m. - Gate 17 opens to support vehicle access to the base.
- 3:00 p.m. - The Naticks, playing Rock Music
- 3:30 p.m. - Gate 1 opens for the general public, pedestrians only, no vehicles.
- 5:00 p.m. - Changes in Latitude, A Jimmy Buffet Tribute Band
- 7:00 p.m. - Navy Band Northeast's rock band, Rhode Island Sound
- Approximately 9:15 p.m. - Fireworks
