Children's Night Series Kicks Off at Easton's Beach Thursday

The first Children’s Night at Easton’s Beach kicks off tonight (Thursday).

Acclaimed children’s singer Johnny the K will perform at 6 p.m.

The free show is funded through a grant from the Rhode Island Foundation and it’s free and open to the public.

After the musical performance, children will have a chance to participate in a Beach Idol competition sponsored by the Easton’s Beach Snack bar.

The Children’s Night series will continue for the next six weeks.

Each show lasts about 45 minutes.

Next week (July 16) Tommy James, a magician is on hand. Also lined up in the coming weeks is singer and storyteller Bill Harley, T-Bone and the Toe Jam Puppet Band.

In the event of rain, shows will be held in the Rotunda Ballroom.

The Newport Recreation Department is also hosting Family Night concerts held on Tuesday nights.
