Classical and Flamenco Guitarist Pablo Gimenez Hecht Performs at the Redwood Library
Spanish guitarist Pablo Gimenez Hecht will preform a special concert of diverse guitar solos at 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, January 24

The Redwood is delighted to present Spanish guitarist Pablo Gimenez Hecht in a special concert at 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, January 24, in the Harrison Room. Pablo began playing guitar at the age of five, focusing on both classical and flamenco styles with his father, Juan Miguel Giménez. He commenced his formal education in the classical style at age eight and finished his studies at Conservatory Superior Victoria Eugenia in Granada, Spain. At sixteen, he began training at the Conservatory of Flamenco guitar, and is currently studying at the Conservatory Superior Rafael Orozco in Córdoba, Spain, one of the most prestigious music schools of flamenco guitar.
Pablo performs every night in Granada in a tablao flamenco, one of the traditional flamenco shows, “Venta el Gallo” alongside talented dancers, singers and guitarists. Over the last several years, his performances have included the 2014 Boston Guitar Festival, the International Festival du Cartage in Tunisia, the International Festival Andrés Segovia in Madrid, the Teatro Helena Sá e Costa in Oporto, Portugal and the Festival Veranos de la Villa, Madrid. In 2015, he performed at the Bruno Walter Auditorium at Lincoln Center where he will play again January 23, 2016.
His performance at the Redwood will include a diverse program of guitar solos by classical composers Torroba, Albéniz, and Falla, paired with flamenco works by Escudero, Sabicas, and Paco de Lucía.
