Clay Pell Splitting with Michelle Kwan, TMZ Reports

NEWPORT, RI—Olympic medalist Michelle Kwan and Rhode Island's Clay Pell are ending their marriage, according to multiple news sources.

TMZ.com, the celebrity news and gossip outlet, was first to report the information but was quickly followed by the New York Daily News and others.

Pell was an unsuccessful candidate for governor, losing out in the Democratic Primary to current Gov. Gina Raimondo.

His Twitter page describes him as the "proud husband of @MichelleWKwan, but he has not tweeted in several days.

In a statement released by numerous news outlets, he is asking for privacy.

Kwan seems to be keeping to her schedule. She's depicted all smiles on her Twitter page at a Morgan Stanley / Womens Sports Foundation event.
