Close Out Newport's 375 Anniversary with a New Year's Party at Rosecliff

The public is invited to ring in the new year and celebrate the end of Newport's 375 Anniversary at Rosecliff.

The public is invited to join Newport’s 375th Anniversary Committee for a gala New Year’s Eve party at Rosecliff on Wednesday, December 31, 2014 to close out its year-long anniversary celebration and ring in the new year. The party will include cocktails, dinner, music, dancing and a champagne toast.

“This is sure to be a night to remember. Newport 375 has been a success throughout 2014 and the New Year’s Gala will be the culmination of the celebration of Newport’s wonderful history,” said Newport 375 Co-Chair Stephen C. Waluk.

“The committee and community volunteers have organized a variety of events throughout the year to highlight all Newport has to offer, and we invite everyone to join in celebration on New Year’s Eve,” added Newport 375 Co-Chair John J. Trifero.

“The Preservation Society is honored to have been a year-long sponsor of the Newport 375 celebration, and we’re happy to partner with the committee to host this gala event at Rosecliff, which after all was built for extraordinary entertaining,” added Preservation Society CEO & Executive Director Trudy Coxe. “This will be the first time that we have opened Rosecliff for a New Year’s Eve gala.”

The evening’s menu, prepared by Russell Morin Fine Catering, will begin with a variety of hors d’oeuvres, including baby lamb chops with raspberry demi glace, Sicilian shrimp skewers, hot and crunchy almond chicken with soy Dijon glaze, and wild mushroom strudel with smoke tomato chutney, cheeses and vegetable crudite. The seated dinner will feature a first course of Riesling poached pear salad, butternut squash bisque and rolls, followed by filet mignon with Newport seafood topping, Merlot demi glace, Yukon Gold and leek gratin and haricot vert. A dessert buffet will include white chocolate bread pudding with créme anglaise, cranberry cheesecake, chocolate peppermint brownie bites, English trifle verrines, créme brulée, red velvet cupcakes, and sugar cookies. Late night treats of miniature English muffins with egg, ham and cheese will also be served.

Music will be provided by the Mac Chrupcala Orchestra.

Tickets for the gala are $225 per person, and black tie is optional. The event will run from 8 p.m. to 1 a.m. Reservations may be made by calling the Special Events Office at The Preservation Society of Newport County, at (401) 847-1000 ext. 140.
