Construction Underway On Newport's Storer Park
Work could begin early due to the mild weather, city officials said.
NEWPORT, RI — Amid the unseasonably mild weather we've been experiencing here in Rhode Island, construction is underway on the seawall at Storer Park and the Goat Island Causeway. Work began this week on the improvements to one of the city's most popular parks.
The project will repair the damaged seawall and create a newly paved Harbor Walk, along with grass to replace the concrete areas of the pier. During construction, a temporary fence will be placed around the area.
Construction is both tide- and weather-dependent. Crews can only complete repairs on the seawall during low tide, the city said. More updates are expected as work continues.
