NEWPORT, R.I., November 14, 2014—Off the Curb, a non-profit youth outreach program that strives to improve the health and wellness of its members through the spirit of hip hop, dance and performance, will be hosting their “Peace & Hip Hop” community showcase this Sunday, November 16, at the Hut in Newport, RI.
Founded in 1992 by Jackie Henderson, Off the Curb organized numerous after school dance programs for students and its renowned performance troupe opened for artists such as Missy Elliott, Busta Rhymes, LL Cool J, Outkast and many more. After going on hiatus in 2008, Off the Curb has returned and is currently serving 150 students in their after school dance program. This show represents their premiere community performance.
The “Peace and Hip Hop” performance will be held at 2 PM at the Hut on 35 Golden Hill Street in Newport. Tickets are $8 for adults and $5 for students. Admission for ages five and under is free. Group and family rates are available.
