Discover Newport Announces Harbor Lights Winners

NEWPORT, RI — The winners of this weekend's first-ever Harbor Lights Newport were announced on Monday. The two-day event lit up the waterfront of the City By The Sea, with local businesses and boat owners encouraged to attend.

"We are grateful to those who rolled up their sleeves to participate this year and who showed their spirit. With their help and enthusiasm, we illustrated what an extraordinary treasure Newport Harbor is and how this event can continue to grow," said Evan Smith, the president and CEO of Discover Newport. "I offer my thanks and congratulations to all of the winners."

• Third Place: Newport Harbor Hotel

Best Decorated Boat on a Mooring

• First Place: Brilliant Deduction (Owner Philip Slocum)
• Second Place: Gallop (Owners Dennis and Yvonne Ferreira)
• Third Place: Tir Na Nog (Owner Kevin Callahan)

Best Decorated Boat Winners: Newport Yacht Club

• First Place: Compass Rose (Owner William Varr)
• Second Place: Howie (Owner Betsy Green)
• Third Place: Shanty III (Owner Michael Paruta)

Best Decorated Boat Winners: Bowen’s Wharf Marina

• First Place: Lady Gigi (Owner William Cannon)

This was the first year of the event, which ran on Friday and Saturday nights from dusk until 10 p.m.
