Jamestown Diving Accident Victim Identified: RI DEM

A 35-year-old Attleboro, Mass., man died Sunday in a diving accident in waters off Beavertail.

NEWPORT, RI — The state has identified the diver who died Sunday after an accident in waters South of Beavertail. According to Gail Mastrati, spokeswoman for the state Department of Environmental Management, he is Jesse M. Andrade, 35, of Attleboro, Mass. DEM is investigating the accident.

The accident happened between 1 and 2 in the afternoon in waters south of Beavertail. Castle Hill's Coast Guard station responded. The Woods Hole sector communications officer said the Coast Guard boat picked up the injured person, who was was taken back to Castle Hill where emergency medical workers were waiting. The Public Affairs Officer in Boston on Monday confirmed the person was flown by medical helicopter to a trauma center, and was pronounced dead at the hospital.
