Eating a Pizza, Man Arrested for Drunk Driving

Alexander L. Perry, 29, pulled over to eat a slice, and an officer alleges he was under the influence.

NEWPORT, RI– According to the police report, the officer suspected a driver might be impaired when he spotted the car turning off Bellevue Avenue.

He followed the driver; and when the car pulled over at the corner of Dixon and Spring streets, the officer spoke to the operator and asked him why he parked.

He wanted to eat his pizza, he replied.

Alexander Perry, 29, of Newport, was charged at 1:43 a.m. with driving under the influence, first offense. He also received a traffic violation for refusing to submit to a chemical test.
