The first annual Bike to Work Day Newport will take place today. Events are scheduled throughout the day from 6 am to 7 pm. Park and Bike parking will be available for long distance and Pell Bridge commuters at Newport Grand Slots.
From 6 am to 10 am, a light breakfast will be provided to cyclists at the Great Friends Meeting House on the green at the intersection of Farewell and Marlborough Streets/ Dr. Marcus Wheatland Blvd.
At 1 pm a press conference is on the steps of Newport City Hall to announce the results of a city-wiude survey about bicycling, among other topics.
A Community Bike Ride is at 4 pm, circling hte city beginning at the Great Friends Meeting House.
A Bike Fair is from 5 to 7:30 pm at King Park, Wellington Avenue.
