Historical Lecture: Slave Trader to Abolitionist: “Quaker Tom” Robinson

The Newport Historical Society, in collaboration with Salve Regina University, the Newport Restoration Foundation and the Rhode Island Council for the Humanities, presents a lecture, "From Slave Trader to Abolitionist: “Quaker Tom” Robinson," by independent scholar Elizabeth Cazden. Thomas Robinson, a Newport Quaker merchant, was a key advocate for abolition of slavery both within and outside of the Society of Friends from the 1770s. It was not always so, though:  Come find out the story! Free, but donations are accepted.
