Lecture: The Vanderbilts at Bleinheim

Paul F. Miller, Curator, The Preservation Society of Newport County, will present a lecture on The Vanderbilts at Bleinheim. The transformation of the early 18th century state rooms at Blenheim Palace, Oxfordshire seat of the Dukes of Marlborough, undertaken by the Ninth Duke of Marlborough and his American wife, Consuelo Vanderbilt, is a subject shrouded in mystery and misconception. Mr. Miller will discuss the reasons for the redecoration and reveal the major players in this re-gilding of one of Britain's most celebrated stately homes. Admission: Preservation Society members free, General admission $5. Advance registration requested. Register online at www.NewportMansions.org, or call (401) 847-1000 ext. 154
