Open House! All Welcome! New Massage and Ayurveda School to Open in NEWPORT, Rhode Island, Aug. 20, 2012 -- The School for Allied Massage and Ayurveda (SAMA), the only private massage school to be approved by the Rhode Island Board of Governors for Higher Education, will open in Newport this fall 2012.
SAMA will provide a unique opportunity for graduates to become Licensed Massage Therapists, Registered Ayurvedic Health Counselors and Yoga Alliance Registered Yoga instructors. The new school is an expansion of Sacred Stone, a continuing education school in Newport, RI for Licensed Massage Therapists (LMTs) who wish to earn credits for recertification approved by The National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork.
Ayurveda is the ancient holistic medical system developed in India 5,000 years ago. According to founder Karyn Chabot, SAMA will offer “a consciousness-based program inspired by the matrix between science and art, where ancient wisdom meets modern medicine, and where massage, Ayurveda and yoga reunite.” The school brings together under one roof the opportunity to learn both modern massage, yoga teacher training and the healing practice of ancient Ayurveda therapies.

In Newport 1999, Karyn Chabot, D.Ay.MS, LMT pioneered and innovated the hot stone massage movement, which is a staple today in many massage schools and spas across the world. She holds a Master’s Degree in Ayurvedic Medicine and has studied with renowned Ayurvedic physician, Dr. Vasant Lad in NM at The Ayurvedic Institute.
Karyn is inviting anyone interested in learning more about SAMA to come to the open house on Oct 19th, 2012 from 7-10pm at 79 Thames St in Newport.
