Calvin Campany and Shawn Thornton of Adornment Fine Jewelry are celebrating the summer season with their 6th annual Antique and Estate Jewelry Show. This year’s theme is Southern Elegance: New Orleans meets South County. The show will feature an exquisite selection of handpicked pieces of antique, estate, and contemporary fine jewelry.  Among the items to be featured for the show are vintage and antique engagement rings and wedding bands, cocktail rings, necklaces, earrings cufflinks, and lockets- in a wide range of prices. Jewelry from the Victorian, Art Deco and Edwardian eras will be featured. Adornment is a locally owned independent jewelry retailer and is known for their legendary designs, quality and competitive prices on engagement ring and wedding bands, fine jewelry for women and men, and brand-name watches.

This year, Thomas Whisnant, of Wellington & Co., a nationally acclaimed jeweler and a highly qualified gemologist will host a “What is it Worth?” event during the show at Adornment Fine Jewelry.

This event is part mystery, part history lesson and part treasure hunt. “We’ve all heard the stories of someone discovering an item of great value that they unknowingly had for years. Who hasn’t secretly wondered if that could be you?” said Calvin Campany, co-owner of Adornment Fine Jewelry. “This is the perfect time to dust off that unusual item from the bottom of your jewelry box to see what it’s really worth. Who knows – you might be holding a secret treasure,” he continued.

With gemological credentials earned with the Gemological Institute of America, Whisnant and his wife Brandy own a highly regarded antique and estate jewelry store in the historic French Quarter of New Orleans. Whisnant is a 20-year jewelry industry professional with extensive experience in retail management, consulting, gemological research, and jewelry appraising. A highlight of Whisnant’s career was appraising a 22 Alexandrite gem that was worth over 235 thousand dollars.

Limit one jewelry item per person on a first come first serve basis. The “What It’s Worth?” service is not a full and complete appraisal, but a verbal approximation of value. Full and complete appraisals, which start at $45, can be scheduled during the event for a later date. This event is open to the public.
