Strong Woman Series: "Indulge Yourself: It's Healthier Than You Think"

The first meeting of the 2011 Strong Woman Series will be led by Kristen Neissink, RD, a registered dietician who has been teaching a “Healthy Kids, Healthy Families” curriculum at the MLK Community Center for the past year.  Her topic will be “Indulge Yourself-It’s Healthier Than You Think.”  The ladies will be cooking dinner that evening.

The Strong Woman Series is the brainchild of Dr. Rosalind Vaz, Middletown resident and Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Center volunteer and board member.  Dr. Vaz conceived of the series to enlighten, celebrate and empower women as women, instead of focusing on them solely as parents and caregivers. The Series meets monthly from October until April and is a collaboration of the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Center, Citizens Bank, and Newport Hospital, It is funded by the MissSwinburne Fund of the RI Foundation.  All of the speakers are volunteers whoshare their particular areas of expertise.
