"Tracing the Evolution of Historic Livestock Breeds"
Sohini Ramachandran, Professor of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology at Brown University, will discuss the co-evolution of humans and domestic livestock. While breed development facilitated human population growth and success, it also resulted in the loss of genetic diversity in these animals. The unique genetic signatures of livestock domestication can be studied to reveal the secrets of 10,000 years of human history. Advance registration required. Please call 401-848-7229 ext 10 or email jill@svffoundation.org to register.
