The Rolling Stones: The Brian Jones – Mick Taylor Years  (1964-1975)

Film archivist Bill Shelley will be in attendance and will give an introduction and Q&A.

The Rolling Stones exploded on the music charts in 1964 with songs like "Time Is On My Side" and "It's All Over Now." Original guitarist and multi-instrumentalist Brian Jones was responsible for giving the Stones their American influenced sound. Throughout the 1960s, his contributions added to the song writing skills of Mick Jagger and Keith Richards on songs like "Ruby Tuesday" and "Let's Spend The Night Together."

When Jones died in 1969, his replacement was a young guitarist, named Mick Taylor. His work brought the Stones into the 1970s with a country blues sound against the harder, grittier music. His contributions to chart topping songs like "Brown Sugar," "Gimme Shelter" and "It's Only Rock and Roll" helped the group maintain its popularity throughout the world.

Newly discovered and restored archival footage from 35mm prints, kinescopes and video masters (some in stereo sound) bring to life Bill Shelley's documentary, Many promotional films (pre-cursors to music videos) included in Bill Shelley's film have never been seen by United States audiences. Some make their first appearance in Shelley's documentary, with restored color and sound.

Shelley owns the Shelley Archives, which has more than 100,000 reels of original 35mm and 16mm films and more than 10,000 hours of rare concerts, television shows (from Europe & USA), promos, interviews, out-takes, and home movies, on a wide-ranging variety of subjects.
