The Newport Historical Society and Salve Regina University a history walking tour, "Patronesses on the Point: A Walking Tour of Women and Newport Architecture." Dr. Catherine Zipf will discuss how Newport’s patronesses changed the face of Ochre Point through their unique domestic designs. Some built fanciful farms, while other explored cutting-edge architectural styles, like the Shingle Style. This tour will visit some of the notable buildings built by the women of Ochre Point.
