Ex-Boyfriend Breaks into Newport Woman's House to Attack New Boyfriend

Police said Randy Rissmiller, 34,entered the apartment by crawling through a living room window.

A 34-year-old Bristol man was arrested and charged with felony breaking and entering and simple assault for breaking into his ex-girlfriend’s house in Newport and attacking her new boyfriend on Monday morning.

Police said Randy John Rissmiller, 34, of 37 Congressional St., Bristol, entered the apartment by crawling through a living room window on the west side of her house.

Once inside, he fought with the other man who later told police this was the second incident during which Rissmiller broke into the house and started fighting with him.

According to a police report, officers were dispatched to the house at around 8 a.m.

The woman told police that she dated Rissmiller for about a year but the relationship ended earlier this year and she had moved on.

Rissmiller left the house before police arrived but he was later stopped on Broadway at Friendship Street and taken into custody without incident.

Police said the victims were upstairs in bed when the heard banging on the front and rear doors. They then heard someone inside the hosue a short time later than saw Rissmiller walk upstairs.

He then immediatley began punching the other man in the face. The woman ran into the bathroom and called 911. She was not injured during the incident. Her new boyfriend reportedly suffered superficial wounds and was not seriously injured.

Rissmiller was later released on $5,000 personal recognizance and is due to appear in court on June 11 for arraignment.
