Ex-Newport Man Caught With 13 Child Porn Videos Sentenced To Prison
Craig Mulvey was living in a boarding home in Newport when he was caught with videos and pictures of child pornography on his laptop.
NEWPORT, RI — A former Newport man who authorities caught with 13 videos and 11 pictures of child pornography was sentenced to 42 months in federal prison.
Craig Mulvey, 41, pleaded guilty on Aug. 6, 2021 to possession of child pornography and was sentenced Wednesday.
When Mulvey was caught in 2020, he was living in a boarding home in Newport. In May 2020, Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) learned from a social media platform that a user was using its platform to upload child pornography. A court-authorized search of the user's account found the pornography.

Agents then traced the IP address associated with the account to a Newport home. On Oct. 27, 2020, agents searched the home and arrested Mulvey after finding pictures and videos of child pornography on his laptop.
Following Mulvey's prison sentence, he will have to serve eight years of supervised release.
