Excessive Heat Warning Issued Across Rhode Island
Heat indices are expected to top out at 105 degrees across much of the state.

The heat advisory in effect across Rhode Island Tuesday was upgraded to an excessive heat warning. "Dangerously hot conditions" are possible throughout most of the state, according to the National Weather Service.
The warning covers southeastern Massachusetts and all of Rhode Island, excluding Block Island and remains in effect until 8 p.m. Heat indices are expected to top out at 105 degrees, leading to dangerous conditions for outdoor activities.
In extreme heat, the Rhode Island Department of Health encourages Rhode Islanders to spend as much time indoors as possible, avoiding any anything strenuous outdoors. Drink plenty of water, and wear loose-fitting, light-colored clothing to help avoid overheating.
