Expect Heavy Weekend Traffic: Newport Police
The police are letting everyone know they'll be out directing traffic this weekend, and there will be plenty of cars for the Folk Festival.
NEWPORT, RI — Police have a message for everyone in Newport this weekend. It's folk festival weekend, and crowds will be in the city all three days. The Newport Folk Festival will be held Friday July 28 to Sunday July 30 at Fort Adams State Park.
"All three days of the festival are sold out and we anticipate a heavy volume of traffic," the police said. "Please plan your travels accordingly."
The parking for the festival opens at 8 a.m. There will be uniformed Newport Police officers assigned to the festival to assist with traffic control. Doors open at 10 a.m., and performances are scheduled to end at sundown.
