Memorial Day Weekend officially kicks of the summer season for the City by the Sea.  Here's a round up of races that are happening in Newport waters this week:

28th Annual Owen L. Mitchell Memorial Day Regatta

Where: Newport Yacht Club (Race Newport to Block Island)
When: Friday, May 27 – Monday, May 30, 2011

The Owen L. Mitchell Memorial Day Regatta is an annual race from Newport to Block Island started by Newport Yacht Club member and past commodore Cliff Mitchell and is named in honor of his grandfather. The regatta is a relaxed event with an emphasis on fun.

Bermuda One-Two© Yacht Race

Where: Starts from Newport to Bermuda
When: June 3 (for Newport start)

Annapolis to Newport Race Start/Finish
The race is a qualifying race for the New York Yacht Club's new Atlantic Ocean Racing Series, whose centerpiece is the 2011 Transatlantic Race.
