Fight at Festival Field Ends With Charges Against Homeless Man
A homeless Providence man was charged with one felony and several misdemeanors after he allegedly assaulted his girl friend.

NEWPORT, RI— Rafael Reyes, of Providence, was arrested at Festival Field apartments on May 1 at 12:15 p.m. He was charged with felony Domestic assault and five misdemeanors in connection with two assaults in the victim's home and a fight with her brother and the brother's friend in the parking lot, police said.
The felony charge was related to an accusation he pushed the victim's face into the kitchen wall and held a knife to her throat. Later the same day, he also allegedly punched a victim in the face in same apartment. Ultimately, he was also charged with two counts of Simple Domestic assault and battery and Domestic Refusal to relinquish the telephone.
Meanwhile, the victim's brother and a friend heard went to the apartment. One brought a baseball bat. According to police, Reyes took the baseball bat away from the man and hit him on the head with it twice. He was charged with one count of Simple Assault and Battery and Disorderly Conduct for fighting, police said.

Reyes told police that his girl friend's brother and his friend had jumped him earlier.
