Fight at Gas Lamp Grille Ends With One Arrest
Daniel E. Larue, 22, of Middletown, led police on a foot chase but was caught near Cardines Field. He was charged with disorderly conduct.
NEWPORT, RI—A fight at the Gas Lamp Grille spilled into Thames Street shortly after midnight Friday morning. A police officer who happened to be nearby witnesses a suspect punch the victim in the face, as he was leaving the bar.
The victim fell down in the street. The suspect fled. A foot chase continued to Brick Market where one officer lost sight of Daniel E. Larue, 22, of Middletown.
Another officer located Larue walking near Cardines Field. He was charged with disorderly conduct -- fighting; and with obstructing a police officer.

The victim refused medical treatment, police said.
