Saturday marks the beginning first unofficial weekend of fall, and the temperatures have gotten the memo. A cooler, Autumn-like day is in the forecast, with temperatures not expected to crack 70 degrees across much of the state.

A high-pressure front over northern Vermont and Quebec, Canada is to blame for chilly morning lows across the region, the National Weather Service reported, with most Massachusetts, Rhode Island and Connecticut residents waking up to temperatures in the mid-to-low 40s.

Temperatures will warm up throughout the afternoon topping out in the high 60s to around 70 degrees, with slightly cooler temperatures on Block Island and along the shore.
